    Packet Tracer 5.2 Beta

    By Raiy Wong | May 14, 2010

In preparation for the launch of Packet Tracer version 5.2, we are looking for instructors who will help us test this new version. We have added several new features and protocols, especially in the areas of security and QoS.

We are asking instructors who would like to participate in this beta test to create and submit a test case. A test case is a framework that is used by our automated testing software to validate Packet Tracer functions. We run more than 3000 test cases against every release of Packet Tracer.

The process used to create a test case is the same as the process used for creating hands-on labs and instructor answer sheets: planning, writing step by step instructions, capturing output from the devices, and creating the instructor’s guide. The only requirement is that you need to use three of the commands and options on the new IOS command sheet.

After we train instructors for the beta test, we will focus more on feature testing, usability testing, multiuser testing, and Activity Wizard testing. We will schedule training sessions on new PT5.2 features in early March and will release the betasoftware for testing later that month.
